Conservation
action - to apply for a fund award
The OBC Conservation Fund invites applications for grants for
conservation work and conservation awareness projects. A range
of awards are available each year, including three major grants
offered in conjunction with Asia Ecological Consultants, Carl
Zeiss Ltd and WildWings.
- The AEC/OBC Award is for ornithological
fieldwork relating to a threatened species and for projects
with a total budget not
exceeding £1500.
- The Forktail-Zeiss Award is for projects
seeking to conserve threatened species with a total budget
not exceeding £1500.
- The OBC-WildWings Award is available for
projects that aim to raise conservation awareness about threatened
bird species and
their habitats and is for a maximum of £1000.
- The Vietnam
Award is a special grant of £1000 that is available
for ornithological projects in Vietnam that are to be undertaken
by Vietnamese.
- The Expedition Award is an annual award of £1000
for student expeditions that add to our knowledge of threatened
birds in
the region. Applications should seek to utilise local counterparts
and have an emphasis on training.
- Small Grants of up to £1000
are also available and offered on the same principles as
the three major awards.
Guidelines for OBC Conservation Award Proposals: Please read the guidelines carefully as we have many applicants and only the most thorough proposals are awarded grants.
- OBC
Conservation Fund grants are usually only available to Oriental
nationals, although consideration will be given to non-oriental
applicants who work in conjunction with local people.
- Projects
should aim to involve local people and support local non-government
organizations (NGOs) or Community Based Groups (CBOs).
- Where possible projects should aim to contribute to government
decisions and conservation policy making.
- Priority will be given to applications for projects that
plan to work on threatened bird species.
- Please note that individuals
can only have one active OBC-funded project at any one time
and multiple applications are therefore
not possible.
- Successful applicants will need to provide a preliminary
report to OBC within one month of project completion and
a full report
must be provided within six months of completion and copied
to the appropriate local organisations.
- Applications must be
submitted electronically as an email attachment in either
WORD or PDF format. Applications must be four
A4 pages or less, with margins of 20mm or greater, in a font
size
